Christian Science teaches that Christ, Truth, is of God...

Churchill County Eagle

Christian Science teaches that Christ, Truth, is of God and has been always present; that Christ Jesus taught and demonstrated this Truth more than any other person; that the healing power of Truth was lost to the world from about the third century until 1866, when Mary Baker Eddy, a spiritually-minded New England woman, rediscovered it, and gave the fruits of her labors to a skeptical world, in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" and her other writings, including the periodicals she founded. Let it be understood that the teachings of Christian Science were founded upon the Bible, after years of prayerful study of the Book of books by Mrs. Eddy. Mere opinions are valueless. Demonstration is requisite. Mrs. Eddy beheld the Christ, Truth, when death was knocking at her very door. Through her understanding of spiritual truth contained in the Bible she was healed. This to her was unmistakable evidence of the ever present Christ,—omnipresent Truth,—and it led her to search, probably as no one else had ever searched, for the Christ or healing Truth in the Bible. She found it and gave it to the world, "uncontaminated and unfettered by human hypotheses" (Christian Science Quarterly, p. 4).

We fully understand what the Bible says about "deception," "false Christs," and "false prophets;" but Christian Science is the demonstrable truth bringing forth the very signs and wonders of which Jesus spoke when he said: "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." Christian Scientists accept the Master's words, "Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world."
