About seventeen years ago, I was struggling along under medical treatment. The doctors claimed my bowels were paralyzed, and gave me no hope that their action would ever be natural again. I had tried different kinds of medicine, and thought I could not do without it daily. I had never been a Bible student, but had a longing to know more about it. I attended the church where my two little girls went to Sunday school. Many times I prayed to the "unknown God" for a medicine that would heal me, so that I should be able to raise my two little girls to womanhood.

At this point in my life I was told of Christian Science. My friend said she had been healed of the same complaint, and that Christian Science surely would heal me. When I went home I thought a good deal of this; and a great desire came to know more about what had healed her. But I seemed too timid to buy the book. Then one evening my husband was packing furniture for a Christian Science student. When he had finished his work and was leaving, this man handed him a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. As I sat down to read the book in the evening I thought, I surely have given materia medica a fair chance, and I shall do the same with Christian Science. I sat alone until midnight, reading. I closed the book and went to bed without taking medicine. I had a great desire to take it, for I thought my life depended upon it; but I decided God's laws must be all-in-all to me. In the morning I found I was healed. I have never taken medicine since.

After this healing great spiritual exaltation came. I knew I could know the divine Principle that had healed me; and if it was good for me, my two girls must also understand the God that is All-in-all. I am glad to express my gratitude for the many blessings that have come to me since, through a better understanding of God.
