Christian Science has led me out of the darkness of material sense to the light of the spiritual understanding of God as Life. Even to-day it is very wonderful to me how lovingly our Father-Mother God has led me to Christian Science.

The Russian attack on East Prussia left me without a home and without any means. My parents had previously passed on; and when my two oldest brothers fell in the war, I was disconsolate and without any support. In addition, I was physically very ill. In that condition Christian Science found me. It taught me to live, to love, and to be grateful; and for this I am deeply grateful to Mrs. Eddy. According to the doctors I was suffering from an hereditary, incurable, herpetic eruption. I asked a Christian Science practitioner for absent treatment, which was given me most lovingly. When my thoughts had become clearer and purer, when false thinking had given place to right thinking, then also my body was made clean.

Before I knew of Christian Science I underwent an operation for appendicitis; and I was told that later on I should have to be operated on again for other things, being too weak at that time to stand the strain. After some time all the symptoms appeared which mortal law said would necessitate the predicted operation. I confidently asked the kind practitioner for help. On the third day the pain became so severe that I had to lie down. In the afternoon the pain ceased; and then something wonderful happened: parts in my body changed their position without causing me pain. With surprise, but also with relief, I perceived the divine operation. Nothing is impossible to God. He is Life. After three days I was again about my daily duties. The fact that I had to alter my clothes because my figure had changed, and that I never had any more pain, was proof to me that I was healed.
