When I first started to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, there seemed nothing in particular that was in need of healing. During the perusal of the book I began to realize, however, that a wonderful truth was dawning on my consciousness which removed many beliefs and theories concerning life that I had held in common with others who are in bondage to various forms of error. Soon afterwards influenza passed through this country. For quite a time it seemed I would escape, and my friends thought I was immune from the disease; but one day all the symptoms developed. It was then I placed full reliance on the truth which Christian Science had been teaching me; and to my amazement, I was healed instantaneously.

For fully twenty years I was addicted to the use of tabacco and intoxicating liquor, with no desire to give up either, having a solid belief that they gave happiness and comfort. With the study of Christian Science the use of and desire for both tabacco and liquor disappeared, without leaving any feeling of loss, but instead a beautiful sense of peace and gain.

For these and many other blessings I am very grateful to God. I desire also to express my gratitude to our revered Leader, who lived so close to God as to be able to reveal the way of Truth that makes free, as demonstrated by our great Master, Christ Jesus.
