In July, 1906, I was healed of a diseased condition of the eyes that I had had for about eight years. After treating me four and a half years a specialist said that nothing would ever make me well; that he had done all that any one could. Then kind friends asked me to try Christian Science. I had never heard of it, and did not think it would help me, but there was no choice; so I went to my first Wednesday evening meeting. My healing started that night. I did not realize it then, but knew soon after as I heard the different testimonies. I thought, This truth is for me, too, and I know that I can be healed. I did not know how, but felt I would be. Up to that night I had been wearing two pairs of glasses. I had been told by the doctor not to use my eyes at all. Well, the next day I forgot what he had said, until I had read twenty pages in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy and discovered that I could see more clearly and the pain was gone. Then I went to a Christian Science practitioner for help, and through her kind, loving work I was completely healed of that condition; also of nervous headaches I had had for years, and many other ailments. My thought has been turned away from self with its arguments of fear and destruction.

I am deeply grateful to God for giving us one so pure and unselfish as our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and to the practitioner who helped me in my first attempt to know God.
