Christian Science teaches that evil is unreal

New London Day

Christian Science teaches that evil is unreal. It does not follow, however, that the false claims of evil can be indulged with impunity. By yielding to a sinful temptation, the sinner acknowledges his belief in the reality and power of sin. By suffering sufficiently for sin, he finally learns that sin is a terrible mistake. And it is only through repentance and reformation that he can understand the unreality of evil.

Through the study of Christian Science thousands have gained a better understanding of the import of Jesus' earthly career. That Christian Scientists recognize their need of Christ and atonement is clearly indicated by the following Tenet, found on page 497 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy: "We acknowledge Jesus' atonement as the evidence of divine, efficacious Love, unfolding man's unity with God through Christ Jesus the Way-shower; and we acknowledge that man is saved through Christ, through Truth, Life, and Love as demonstrated by the Galilean Prophet in healing the sick and overcoming sin and death."
