Signs of the Times

[From the Geislinger Zeitung, Germany (translation)]

To-day's mode of thinking, which acknowledges only the working of the blind powers of nature, prevents many from drinking at the only true source of strength. . . . And yet, only there does all strength and life originate. . . . A living faith in God seems to many to be a mere pious illusion, and is often viewed as a sign of mental inferiority. Such people measure according to their rule, we according to ours. Whoever has experienced in his inner life the presence of God, figures with it as with a living fact all through life, and thus sees things in a different light. He possesses a reliable support, and looks into the future with confidence, even though the present outlook seems dark.
