Christian Science has veritably been my salvation. Morally, physically, and mentally I have been uplifted in a marvelous way. Words cannot express the genuine and deep gratitude I feel toward Mrs. Eddy for giving us her inspired interpretation of the Scriptures, and for the wholesale benefits that can be derived from a study of this wonderful revelation of Truth.

Christian Science came to me when I was suffering from a very severe form of indigestion, a trouble which was supposed to be directly caused by an enormous wound in the chest. This wound, a result of the late war, extended from under my right arm to a point between the two sets of ribs, the medical theory being that part of the digestive system had been damaged. I was informed after a lengthy convalescence that I was very lucky to have recovered at all, and that I should submit to any after effects of such a wound. I returned to this country after the armistice, and increasingly became troubled with indigestion. For a year I took a complete rest, hoping at the same time that the trouble would disappear. Far from disappearing, however, it became worse. Becoming desperate, I decided to get to work. I worked at hard cattle farming for eighteen months, during the whole of which time I suffered from long periods of severe indigestion; and though I had little faith in medicines, I tried various methods of dieting, without being benefited in any way. I had previously tried a system of bodily exercises, which had given only temporary relief. For several consecutive nights at a time I was unable to sleep more than an hour or two; and this, after working out of doors very often from sunrise to sunset. My nerves during these periods became badly affected, so that my hand trembled when handling objects.

About this time I became interested in what I had heard of Christian Science; and more of curiosity than with any idea of being healed, I wrote to my sister, asking her to lend me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I began by reading a few pages every night. I did not seem to be making much progress, but I was strangely stirred; and when I was about halfway through the book I suddenly realized, to my intense joy, that the truth had healed me. Since that wonderful hour I have not had a return of indigestion, or a single sleepless night. It is now over a year since this healing took place.
