Dominion

What student of Christian Science has not heard questions similar to the following asked: Why cannot I express myself better? Why cannot I do my best? I am sure I have ability, but I find difficulty in expressing it in my work. And has he not, perhaps, replied: Grasp something of the fact that all intelligence belongs to the one infinite Mind; that man does not of himself have any talent or ability, except as a reflection of divine Mind; that, as Mrs. Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 467), "having no other gods, turning to no other but the one perfect Mind to guide him, man is the likeness of God, pure and eternal, having that Mind which was also in Christ." Grasp something of these facts, and we begin to express in part man's dominion, and the ability and power God wills man to express. God not only gives ability and power but also provides the way in which man expresses such ability. God is the only Ego; and He will certainly express Himself!

When God sent Moses to the children of Israel to deliver them from bondage in Egypt, Moses was much concerned and began to ask what qualifications he had that he should go to Pharaoh to demand the freedom of the children of Israel. In the third chapter of Exodus there is recorded his mental struggle and the way in which God, divine Mind, speaking to Moses silenced his fear with the truth of being.

The passage referred to clearly indicates Moses' mental condition. In the first place he asks, "Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh?" His next question is regarding what he shall say to his brethren, "What shall I say unto them?" Moses was oppressed with a false sense of self as being something separate from God, — something that he possessed of his own, — instead of knowing that man only reflects the "I AM," who is Deity. God's statement to Moses, "I AM THAT I AM," surely points out that God is the only "I AM." Moses was not an entity separate from God; he was the reflection of the infinite "I AM." This is brought out in the simplicity of God's message to his people through Moses, "I AM hath sent me unto you."
