[Written for the Sentinel]

O Love Divine

Teach me to know Thy way, O Love divine,
That I may walk therein and never stray;
That I may ever feel my hand in Thine,
Leading me upward to the perfect day.

Teach me to know Thy will, O Love divine,
That I from human sense may be set free;
That I may pray, Not mine, O Lord, but Thine,
Forgetting self in following after Thee.

Teach me to know Thy Word, O Love divine,
That it may be "a lamp unto my feet;"
That I may hear no other voice but Thine,
Call me to perfect action, clear and sweet.

Teach me to know Thy love, O Love divine,
That I this love with other hearts may share;
That I may feel true tenderness like Thine,—
This is my one desire; this is my prayer.
