Christian Scientists and faith healers are not synonymous...

Eastern Evening News

Christian Scientists and faith healers are not synonymous terms. Faith may be merely blind belief; whereas Christian Science is the understanding of God and His laws. It is the understanding and application of these laws which lift a sufferer out of his poor human beliefs and make him "every whit whole." Such healing is not "the triumph of the will over illness." The human will can be used in the attempt to accomplish evil as well as good; but one of the strong points in Christian Science is that "a good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit."

The statement that a Christian Scientist holds that sickness is due to imagination may be best answered by a short quotation from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 460): "Sickness is neither imaginary nor unreal,—that is, to the frightened, false sense of the patient. Sickness is more than fancy; it is solid conviction. It is therefore to be dealt with through right apprehension of the truth of being." This is in line with the teaching of Christ Jesus, who said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
