Some thirty years ago I was healed of incipient consumption...

Some thirty years ago I was healed of incipient consumption and selfishness through Christian Science. My father, seven half brothers, and one sister having died of consumption, I was born and nurtured in this thought. Nothing else was expected for me; so, naturally, I was delicate from childhood, always under the care of doctors, seeking and trying one physician after another. I finally went to a lung specialist of world-wide reputation, and was under his care for several months. When I left him I had gained a little in weight, but was in worse bondage than ever to cruel mortal laws and fears of every kind, and entirely self-centered. When Christian Science finally came to me, and I learned who my true Father is and who are my brethren, the false law of heredity was broken for me, and I came into my true inheritance of health and freedom. When I began to follow the teaching of Christian Science I became so interested in my brethren's needs, so busy in finding how God's law worked, that I forgot self. Seeking my own in another's good, I learned in a measure the truth of our Leader's statement in "No and Yes" (p. 30), "God's law is in three words, 'I am All;' and this perfect law is ever present to rebuke any claim of another law."

While I have always been grateful for my physical healing, I am more grateful to Mrs. Eddy for her teaching as to the false nature of evil, which has given me an understanding of Jesus' definition of devil, or evil, as "a liar, and the father of it." Mrs. Eddy has revealed scientific Christianity which dethrones evil or devil, and enthrones omnipotent God, or good, as the one power, the one Lawgiver. Christian Science is demonstrable religion, showing one how to glorify the Father as the master Metaphysician did, by destroying the works of the devil.

For this great revelation of the omnipotence of God, which shows us the impotence of evil, I am everlastingly grateful.—(Mrs.) Sarah M. Freeman Williams, Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.
