In the year 1898 a precious jewel came into our home. That jewel was the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Although a sufferer for many years from various ills, I was not seeking the physical healing of Christian Science but rather looking for more light about God, man, and the universe. As I studied the sacred pages of this volume, which illumined the Scriptures, showing me God's omnipotence, omniscience, and omnipresence, I found that some old ailments had dropped away, including chronic indigestion and liver trouble, with the other complications that usually follow; also, weak chest. Later on, I was completely healed of seasickness, which had troubled me all my life. I have made four voyages since, and have suffered no inconvenience.

My wife, who first heard of Science and Health, did not accept its teachings so readily; and I had to travel the first few miles of my road from sense to Soul alone. Seeing the proofs of the healing, however, she soon took up the study of the textbook, and had many demonstrations of the healing power of Truth. Christian Science has wrought in us a wonderful change, for it commands us to come into our God-given heritage. It invites us to drop our old opinions and theories, and to follow divine Principle, which will make us "every whit whole;" but we must combine letter and spirit in the working out of the problem.

In concluding, I express my deep thanks to God, to Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and to Mrs. Eddy, who stands as the revelator of Truth to this age.
