It is with a deep sense of gratitude to God, the giver of...
It is with a deep sense of gratitude to God, the giver of all good, that I tell a few of the many blessings I have received since becoming a student of Christian Science. Four days after I began to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I was healed of the cigarette habit. A few weeks later I was healed of rheumatic gout. My next healing was of the liquor habit. I was also healed of pneumonia, in its worst form, in nine days. After this I was healed of a fistula that had bothered me for over twenty years. I had undergone a surgical operation, some years previously, without any benefit; in fact, I was worse afterwards. I was instantaneously healed, at a Wednesday evening testimony meeting in The Mother Church, of the need for glasses, which I had worn for over ten years. I heard a gentleman give his testimony of being healed of wearing glasses, after using them for over fourteen years, and I realized the message was meant for me; and it surely proved to be so. I was partially paralyzed in my right side for a number of years. This was overcome in less than a year, through the loving help of a Christian Science practitioner. A belief of lack, which always seemed to hold me in bondage, has been overcome. I have also been healed of a varicose vein. I should like to state that most of my healings came about through the earnest study of the Bible and of Mrs. Eddy's writings, without the help of a practitioner.
I am very grateful for all these physical healings; but I have a far greater sense of gratitude for a clearer understanding of God as Life, Truth, and Love. Mrs. Eddy tells us in Science and Health (p. 288), "The chief stones in the temple of Christian Science are to be found in the following postulates: that Life is God, good, and not evil; that Soul is sinless, not to be found in the body; that Spirit is not, and cannot be, materialized; that Life is not subject to death; that the spiritual real man has no birth, no material life, and no death." This clear statement of truth means much to me.
I am also very grateful for the continual unfoldment of Christian Science that comes through systematic study. In the years that I have been interested in Christian Science I have seen many healings. I am profoundly grateful to our beloved Master, Christ Jesus the Way-shower, and to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, for their pure lives of self-immolation and love for all mankind. I am also very grateful to the loving practitioners and friends who have helped me to gain a better understanding of the Christ, Truth.
