I have been a student of Christian Science for a number...

I have been a student of Christian Science for a number of years, and so many healings have come to us during these years that I find it difficult to choose among so many and so great blessings. One healing stands out from the fact that so many lessons were learned during the experience. The healing was of scarlet fever, manifested by my youngest son—a lad of about eight years. I had been employed in an office for about two years, and my work seemed to be the main channel through which supply came for myself and three of the four children in the home. We had no fear of the disease, but the thought of quarantine and my being shut out of my office seemed at first to be appalling. However, when some quiet thinking, along lines taught by Christian Science, was done, we began to be assured that no loss could occur from obedience—and Christian Science does demand obedience to city health laws.

The only inconvenience experienced by the child was a fever and a severe headache, which manifested itself after two medical doctors had called. It was the first time the child had ever met a physician, and he did not like the experience. However, the physicians were most kind in their manner, and left us to work out our own salvation. The only manifestation of the disease, after the first thirty-six hours, was a rash. When the doctor came each week he would say to the little girl, "Well, sister, you haven't scarlet fever yet, have you?" and she would always reply, "No, I haven't, and I don't have to have it." We all escaped contagion. The problem of supply was so beautifully taken care of that we had a greater realization of it than previously. Many expressions of love found their way to us.

I am grateful for the many opportunities that are offered through Christian Science for loving service to humanity.
