The Lectures

Plymouth, England (Society).—The following are the remarks made by Mrs. Gertrude B. Mansell, when introducing George Shaw Cook, a Christian Science lecturer:—

Nearly two thousand years ago, the Founder of Christianity invited weary and heavy-laden humanity to take his yoke, to learn of him, and to find rest. He also said, "For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." And yet we see in our midst thousands of our fellow-men, still weary and heavy-laden, and with little hope of escape from this condition. Never has the need been greater for an understanding of the teachings of Christ Jesus. The yoke of human thinking is to-day keeping mankind in bondage, and is causing the many ills it seeks to cure. Through the revelation of Christian Science, multitudes are gaining the spiriutal import of the words and works of our Master; and in proportion to their obedience thereto, they are finding true rest and healing of mind and body. For this light and freedom we are profoundly grateful; but still more so for the hope and promise which Christian Science is bringing to a struggling world.
