My advent into Christian Science dates from attending...
My advent into Christian Science dates from attending a Wednesday evening meeting a little over five years ago. The testimonies opened my eyes to the truth; although for a few years previous I had been growing in an understanding of God as omnipresent, omniscient Spirit. Meditating on these testimonies the next morning, while sitting alone at the breakfast table and fearing to eat much of anything, the thought came to me, "If ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law." Faith was born; and an understanding of God as omnipotent Spirit cast out fear of food having power to harm,—a belief which had been entertained for sixteen years. With confidence I began to eat what was set before me; and have continued to do so ever since.
Christian Science has taught me that unhealthy thoughts produce unhealthy conditions of body. The remedy is to think healing, holy thoughts, which are not sharp or cutting, but kind and loving. My whole outlook on life has been changed. Much comfort is derived from our hymns; the Lesson-Sermons are appreciated; and to say I am grateful does not seem to half express my feelings.
