I have been studying Christian Science for a little over...
I have been studying Christian Science for a little over two years. In this short time I have received many blessings, for which I am indeed grateful. Prior to taking up this study I was practically an atheist. The Bible was a closed book to me. However, I am grateful to say that these old thoughts have been entirely eradicated through the study of the Bible in conjunction with "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.
Christian Science was brought to my notice through the healing of my little boy. He had suffered for about two years with a form of rupture, which the doctors had pronounced incurable. One physician suggested an operation; but, as he could give no guaranty as to the result, I refused my consent. Finally, Christian Science was suggested to us by a friend as a means of overcoming the difficulty. I ridiculed the idea at first, but finally consented; though I was very skeptical as to the result. In less than a week the child was completely healed. This healing was a revelation to me.
A few months later the same child, while playing barefooted, stepped into a hole in which had been thrown several broken bottles. He sustained a very severe cut on the bottom of his foot; in fact, to the senses it seemed as though an artery had been severed. My wife carried the child into the house, then ran about a block to a telephone and called a Christian Science practitioner and asked for help. It was immediately given. When she got back to the house the bleeding had completely stopped, and the child had no pain. In about a week's time the cut healed beautifully; and to-day there is no sign of a scar.
