My first proof of the healing power of Christian Science occurred shortly after I had started the study of its teachings. I had contracted a cold, which became so severe that I could not talk; and I went to a Christian Science practitioner for help. The error in my thought was very soon uncovered and corrected, and the cold vanished. The immediate response was conclusive proof of the power of Truth over physical conditions.

It is about fifteen years since that first experience; and in that time I have not once resorted to medical aid. Attacks of influenza, stomach trouble, and other physical disorders have been quickly healed under Christian Science treatment. For a long time, however, I did not strive earnestly enough to improve my understanding. I now know that I was not nearly grateful enough for the good already received. As a result, I found myself in circumstances which I am sure would have forced me to despondency had I not held to the little knowledge of God that I had gained. I prayed almost unceasingly, knowing that sometime the way would open to lift me out of my unhappiness. That prayer has been answered. Words seem feeble when I try to express my gratitude for the uplifting peace that has come to me.

I am grateful that Mary Baker Eddy was guided to discover the truth of Christian Science, and to provide the means, through her writings, for every one to understand and apply to daily problems the Bible truth that "God is love."
