I wish to tell of a healing that took place for me a few years ago. I was setting a template for foundation bolts for a large Corliss engine; and while I was attempting to walk across the template a plank gave way, causing me to fall a distance of eleven feet, partially dislocating one hip and one bone of the wrist of my left hand. There were also severe internal injuries, which to the human senses seemed fatal. When I began to fall I declared, "God never was nearer to me than now;" and after I fell, and my light seemed to be going out, I declared, "God is my light and my intelligence, and I cannot lose God." I then attempted to turn over, and the hip went back into place.
I had my engineer telephone for a Christian Science practitioner; and treatment began immediately. In about thirty minutes I was resting easily. I was then taken up out of the pit, and carried about two blocks to my home. This was about five o'clock in the evening. The practitioner worked for me faithfully against reaction and internal hemorrhage. I seemed to be partially paralyzed during the night — no pain or feeling. The next day, I looked like one in an advanced stage of dropsy. However, I steadily improved under Christian Science treatment; and on the evening of the fifth day I arose from my bed and, with the aid of crutches, walked out into the yard. On the morning of the sixth day, I took charge of the crew of men and built the foundation stone, without any bad results. I was told at this time that, on account of my age, it would be a year before I could walk without the aid of a cane, and that I would always be bothered more or less with my limb at times. I wish to state that this prediction has been entirely disproved, through the understanding of Christian Science. The accident took place about the middle of October; and by the first of January I was entirely well.
I have been a student of Christian Science for more than thirty years; and during this time it has been my only physician. In proportion to my understanding and practice of the great truths it teaches, its promises have been fulfilled. I have had other healings, for which I am truly grateful; but that which I most desire and appreciate is the spiritual understanding of God and man's relation to Him, as taught in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I trust that I may in a degree prove worthy of the blessings that have come to me through Christian Science. — Henry J. Snyder, Colorado Springs, Colo.
