With a grateful heart I wish to testify to the beneficent effects of Christian Science. Two years ago my seven-year-old daughter was taken sick with double pneumonia, accompanied by high fever. As she had heart trouble, she was affected all the more. At that time I knew nothing of Christian Science and called a doctor, who gave me very little hope, in as much as this was the third time the child had had pneumonia. The heart was very weak, and so-called spasms were manifested. The next day the doctor advised me to call my husband, who was at the front, home on a furlough, in order that he might see the child once more. This I did not do, however, as I wished to spare him the great anxiety which her condition would cause him. In fear and despair I went to an acquaintance and told her of my trouble. She thereupon spoke to me of Christian Science, and I immediately received new courage. I attended the church services on Sunday and on Wednesday evening, and after the first service returned home with a happy heart, for I knew of a certainty that my child would be helped. Then I asked a practitioner to treat her, whereupon her condition improved daily. To-day she is healthy and active, and since her healing has experienced no illness. No trace of the heart trouble is to be found, and she runs and jumps without feeling any fatigue.
For this beautiful proof of the power of divine Love I give my heartfelt thanks to God, and am grateful to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who showed us the way to spiritual freedom. I also wish to give thanks for the helpful provisions made for the Sunday school, in which my two children are privileged to learn of the beautiful Christ-teaching.
