As a rule in giving a testimony, gratitude to Mrs. Eddy...

As a rule in giving a testimony, gratitude to Mrs. Eddy is expressed at the last. It seems to me it should come first, for we all know where so many of us would be to-day had she not spent years of struggle in this grand and noble work. It is little wonder that all true Scientists revere and love her. We were in great distress when we came to Christian Science. In 1910 our little son had been given up by the best physicians in the city, and they frankly told us he was slowly dying and that if by any chance he did live, he would be an imbecile. A friend had been coming to the house occasionally and always brought her hymnal and often sang and played the hymns, although she never spoke of Christian Science to us. However, one day when the baby had been very ill, and she was there, I asked her what to do in order to get help, and she directed me to a Christian Science practitioner, who began treatment that night; and in three days one would not have known the baby, he had changed so. In just two months he gained eleven pounds in weight, and was taking his food and sleeping perfectly.

When he was two years old he broke his arm, and Christian Science help was asked for. A physician was called to set the arm (as the state law demanded), and in three days the doctor said it was a perfect healing, but he wanted to put the plaster cast on anyway. At the end of ten days the baby removed the cast himself and during that time did not experience one moment of pain or discomfort.

We have had untold blessings in the nearly eight years of study of Christian Science. Acute attacks of colic, ulcerated teeth, gallstone, influenza, croup, bad falls, as well as so-called contagious diseases, have been healed with the loving help of practitioners and through our own study and understanding. I would like to mention the healing of a very bad burn. When our little boy was four years old, he took matches and going outside lighted them, his clothes catching on fire. He was rushed to the hospital for dressings before any protests could be made, as I was telephoning for help and my husband was away at the time. I was allowed to remove him from the hospital immediately. About one half of his body was very badly burned. He was under Christian Science treatment for five and one half months when the last bandage was removed. We were repeatedly told he could not live through it; we did not listen, however, but held steadfastly to Truth, and to-day he is a sturdy, healthy boy and the scars are rapidly disappearing.—(Mrs.) Myrtle B. Crosby, Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada.
