I should like to testify to the benefits I have received...
I should like to testify to the benefits I have received through Christian Science. My father-in-law was healed of stomach trouble in one week's treatment, and thereby became greatly interested in Science, and began taking the Sentinel and Journal, but at first I could not see anything in it. About five years later, after the birth of my first child, I was left in a weakened condition and became very miserable and was using different material remedies with little benefit, when one day a neighbor advised me to try Christian Science, as he had been having treatment with much benefit. I sent for a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy and began reading and soon saw it was the truth. I never before could understand the Bible. I read all my spare time, and felt better and was very happy because I had found the truth that Jesus taught. However, I did not study as earnestly as I should and gradually lost interest.
A little over a year and a half ago I had the privilege of attending a Christian Science lecture, and since that time I have been studying the Lesson-Sermons, also reading the Journal and Sentinel, and they are all a very great help to me. Last April my little five-year-old boy fell ten feet from the haymow, striking his head on a sharp corner of a heavy timber below, and was carried home to me, limp and cold. I put him to bed and he lay in a stupor; I was filled with fear for him, so telephoned to a Christian Scientist in our nearest town and asked her to help him, and in a short time his cheeks became warm and he slept naturally all night. The next day he lay in bed and one eye was swollen shut, but the second day he was up and playing as usual. I am truly grateful to Mrs. Eddy for Christian Science, for without it life would not be worth living, and I hope some day to be worthy the name of Christian Scientist.
