All through my life I have had a strong desire to know...
All through my life I have had a strong desire to know and to do good. There never was a time when I did not believe that all things were possible to God; still I now know I was holding Him responsible for the evils that befall mortals, because I thought He permitted them to exist. When my portion of woe and suffering became greater than it seemed to me I could bear, I began to lose faith and to think there could be no such power as omnipotent good, else why this confusion and inharmony on every side. When my son was about ten years of age, it seemed to me I had ceased to pray except that I might be a good mother. It was through this son that Christian Science was brought to me, and through his help that I was healed of a physical trouble from which I had suffered for years, the condition being one of extreme nervousness and stomach and bowel disorder that had become chronic. From that day, almost twelve years ago, I have never been tempted to look to material means for healing, but many discordant conditions, both physical and mental, have been overcome by the understanding of Truth as taught in Christian Science.
Every day, as I learn more and gain a better understanding of God and man, of the life and works of Jesus, my gratitude increases to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who points and leads the way in her writings.
