It is three years since I first heard of Christian Science. I was then in a remote part of Scotland and could find no one who could give me any information on this great subject, so I wrote to my eldest daughter in London and she sent me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. Since then I have had many wonderful demonstrations and feel very thankful to God and to His Son, our dear Master, and also very grateful to God's blessed and honored messenger to this age, Mrs. Eddy, through whom we have come to know the truth that makes free. I had not read much of the textbook before I knew I had found the "pearl of great price." I was mourning over the passing on of a very dear friend whom I had nursed for many years, when the great comfort of Christian Science came to me. I threw out all the medicine I had been taking every night or morning for bowel disorder, from which I had suffered for about thirty years, and in a few weeks was entirely healed of this trouble. Since then I have never taken any medicine. A practitioner in London gave me absent treatment and I was completely cured of rheumatism and of fallen arches, for which I had worn a bandage on my foot for about five years. Six months later I was able to go to Glasgow and enjoy attending a Christian Science church service for the first time and associating with Christian Scientists.

I am very thankful for the help and kindness I have received. Although in my seventy-second year I can go about and do as much as when I was young. In Isaiah we read, "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." What I feel very strongly is God's protecting care. I have had many seemingly bad falls but never felt hurt, simply declaring that man cannot be hurt and knowing the reason why. Boiling water was inadvertently poured over the back of my hand, but I instantly declared the truth and the hand was red for only a minute. I felt no pain after that but went on with my work. I have also been healed of a sprained ankle. The morning after the injury I went to my work, without any inconvenience. I experience clearly every day that God in the source of all supply. A friend had a sheep that experts said could not get better. I treated it and a week later it was perfectly recovered.

As a result of sending some of the Christian Science literature to my children abroad, my youngest son in Australia has taken up the study of this great truth most zealously, and so also has his family. My little granddaughter, aged ten, goes to the Sunday school. I am most thankful to God for all His great goodness in leading me to know of this religion, also grateful to Mrs. Eddy for her goodness, patience, and perseverance in making this wonderful truth known to all humanity, and for the happiness she has been the means of bringing to thousands.
