I wish to express my thankfulness to God for the many...
I wish to express my thankfulness to God for the many blessings that have come to me through Christian Science. Six years ago, when I found this grand truth, I had been under the care of doctors for four years and had tried everything they could do for me. One said I had locomotor ataxia, and others called the disease creeping paralysis and said I would never walk straight again. For two years I wore strong glasses, which the oculist told me I could never do without. I thank God that both these statements of the physicians have been proved false.
When I was in such a condition that I could not walk, talk, or even write properly, as all the strength seemed to have gone from my fingers, a dear friend sent me the book "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy and asked me to try Christian Science. I read this book for three days, and the third evening knew I was well. That night I went to bed without bandages around my legs, after wearing them day and night for a year. The next day I walked as I had not walked for years. I left off all medicines, and so forth, and now do my housework without feeling fatigue. Before that I could not walk one hundred yards without having to lie down.
Words can never express my thankfulness to God for this healing, but the spiritual uplift received is even more to me. The Bible became a new book to me, and my life changed. A year later, with the help of a practitioner, I felt off the glasses. My three sons attend the Christian Science Sunday school, and we have had many beautiful proofs of God's protecting love. Four years ago a mirror four feet square fell on my eldest boy, making a wound three inches long on top of his head, besides cutting his hands and arms. I declared the truth and held fast to the "scientific statement of being," as given on page 468 of Science and Health. My husband cut away the hair and bathed the wound with warm water. The boy sat up to his dinner an hour later, and the next morning the wound had healed. He went to school and did not wear any bandage or have any pain.
