Other when suffering from some discordant condition I...
Other when suffering from some discordant condition I have received help instantaneously by reading testimonies in the Sentinel or the Journal, and I therefore add my experience in the hope that it will help others. Last fall my work took me to the Atlantic coast, which I toured by automobile, and I had occasion to visit many times a city where the so-called epidemic seemed to be severe. When a seven-hundred-mile drive was necessary in October I was suffering from the prevalent malady, but immediately sought help from a Christian Science practitioner and was able to go on my way rejoicing the next morning. During the next two days I made the longest and hardest drive of my fifteen years' experience, but was divinely protected.
I wish to tell also of an instantaneous healing which occurred several years ago when my eldest daughter, then a baby, was pronounced ill with scarlet fever. My wife was merely interested in Christian Science, and a doctor was called to satisfy her; but after he had diagnosed the case and made his report to the health office we asked a Christian Science practitioner for help. Absent treatment was given at once, and when the officer arrived to make examination to confirm the doctor's report, he was greatly puzzled to find no trace of such a disease. To make sure he sent another officer out in the morning to examine the baby, and the report was identical. To say that we all are grateful to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for the disclosure of the blessed truth which, when rightly applied, will and does make men free, is putting it mildly. Our prayer is to live this truth in our daily lives and to help others.
Colds, earache, headache, bronchitis, bowel trouble, and many other ailments have yielded under Christian Science treatment, and the reading of Science and Health has freed me of a long standing habit of smoking and chewing tobacco, which, along with profanity, I had considered incurable. The moral uplift which invariably follows this sort of healing is to me indescribable.
