The testimonies in the Journal and Sentinel have been such a comfort and help to me that I want to add my mite and thus perhaps help some one who is struggling to grow in the understanding of Truth. For ten years or more I had been suffering from stomach trouble, and later from an abdominal hernia. After having doctored for years and being told by six physicians that only an operation would help me, I finally consented to go through this ordeal. The operation was performed and after being in the hospital for weeks I was taken home; but four or five days later the physician insisted upon my returning to the hospital, as an abscess was forming and I would have to be operated on again.

While I lay in bed suffering intensely I started thinking that as God is good, why should I have to suffer so, and the still, small voice said to me, "Why not try Christian Science?" When the physician called that day I told him I would not go to the hospital and that he need not come any more, as I had decided to try Christian Science. He seemed very much excited and worried over my condition, and said that the abscess would break and he would give me two weeks to live. But "man's extremity is God's opportunity." That same afternoon we sent for a Christian Science practitioner, and she lovingly explained to me how good God is and that He alone was my physician. She gave me a treatment and told me to eat my supper with the rest of the family and to eat anything I wanted, as nothing could hurt me. I had been on a very strict diet for months, but followed her advice and ate heartily. I slept well that night, and after ten days' treatment the abscess broke. We called up the practitioner, and she told us to have no fear—that God was right there. The abscess discharged, and the wound healed perfectly. For many years I had been suffering from chronic bowel disorder, and this condition manifested itself. The practitioner, however, assured me that this condition would be taken care of. I had no fever, suffered no ill effects whatever, and the trouble entirely disappeared. After three months' treatment I was a new woman, able to go out and attend the Christian Science services. I am very grateful for this wonderful demonstration.

We have seen all kinds of sickness healed in our family, such as appendicitis, bowel disorder, throat diseases, pleurisy, ivy poisoning, and many other ailments, and have not used medicine for over three years. I can never cease to thank God for His manifold blessings to me and mine, and only hope my testimony may be the means of bringing others out of darkness into the light of Truth. I am also grateful to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, through whom these truths were so generously unfolded, and for her ability to give them to us in a way easy to understand.
