Over twenty years ago Christian Science was first brought to my attention, and shortly afterwards two members of my family were healed by its application. It was not until a few years later that I began to study for myself. I was not at that time in need of physical healing, and although I had implicit faith in the power of Christian Science to heal all manner of diseases and during the years that followed experienced many beautiful, also instantaneous, healings, yet I failed to apply it to my life in other ways as I should have done.

Seven years ago I was taken very ill with a great mental depression which necessitated my leaving home and parting with all near and dear to me. Everything of a material nature which I had clung to was taken from me, also health, hope, and happiness. It was some years before my complete healing took place, and the way seemed indeed dark, but the past two years have been years of complete freedom. The physical and mental healing, though beautiful, does not, however, compare with the spiritual awakening which has come to me. Many material things which years before seemed necessary to my happiness, I find no longer essential. I have been healed of fear to a wonderful degree, of grief, pride, sensitiveness, discontent, discouragement, and anxiety. In their place I have found joy and peace, independence, freedom, courage, and the consciousness of real wealth that the world has not to give and cannot take away. I have indeed proved that joy is spiritual. Many beautiful and quick demonstrations have been made for myself and also for others. I have found the "pearl of great price," and all the world offers could not buy it from me. My one desire is to gain in understanding, and imbibe the spirit so as to help others as I have been helped.
