Existence as understood in Christian Science is spiritual...

Big Run (Pa.) Tribune

Existence as understood in Christian Science is spiritual and eternal—all that is embraced in God and His creation. Sickness and evil do not have these qualities of being, because they are not creations of God.

The commandment, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me," and many other passages of the Scriptures, preclude the thought that there is more than one creator; and as sickness and evil are no part of God's creation, they cannot have a real existence, but must be the result of erroneous beliefs and human misconceptions. It must be assumed that if God had created sickness and evil, Jesus would not have destroyed them, and therefore his works and the works of Christian Science are entirely in harmony with his profound statement to all his followers, "If ye continue in my word, . . . ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

It is to this scientific truth that Christian Science owes its success in healing thousands of cases considered incurable by other means. Mrs. Eddy, on page 207 of her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," has stated it thus: "There is but one primal cause. Therefore there can be no effect from any other cause, and there can be no reality in aught which does not proceed from this great and only cause. Sin, sickness, disease, and death belong not to the Science of being. They are errors, which presuppose the absence of Truth, Life, or Love."
