I gladly give this testimony with the hope that it may help some one. I did not come to Christian Science for physical healing, although I was sadly in need of it, but because I was weighed down with sorrow through the passing on of two dear ones and could find no hope or comfort anywhere. I had heard Christian Science often spoken of as a great help in cases of mental trouble, so procured some of the literature; and by reading and studying it I was lifted out of the gloom which to mortal sense was fast taking me on to a condition worse than death.
A short time after this healing, a friend, not a Christian Scientist, who was very much interested in my case, asked me if I would trust to Christian Science treatment if any member of my family were to have a serious illness. I soon had a chance to prove to this friend how much faith I had in Christian Science, for my youngest daughter was taken ill with scarlet fever. To conform with the law, I called in a physician, as is usual in such cases. He left some medicine and said he would come again that evening. I immediately called a Christian Science practitioner and had her treat the patient, with the result that in two days not a sign of the disease remained. When the physician came in the evening he was astonished at the improvement manifested, especially as the medicine lay where he had left it, untouched. This was a tested proof of my faith in God's healing power, and since that time, four years ago, not a drop of medicine has ever been in our house. Only a few years before this an older daughter passed on with the same ailment under the care of two physicians.
Since this healing many serious illnesses have been overcome. My eldest daughter was very ill with acute lung trouble and was healed in less than a week. I was also healed of the same disease in a few days. Another experience with scarlet fever in my family proved again the power of Truth, for the ailment was overcome in one day after I called a practitioner. Hemorrhoids, bilious headaches, asthma, colds, and in fact most of the ills that flesh seems heir to have been met and conquered quickly with this blessed truth. A badly injured ankle was healed in two days. Although the foot and leg were swollen and discolored one day, the next day all was well, and the boy went to work the following day.
