I am grateful to Christian Science because it has healed...
I am grateful to Christian Science because it has healed me of many bad habits as well as physical ailments. About four years and a half ago I asked a practitioner for treatment and was helped but not healed. Then I took up the study for myself, as I knew that Christian Science heals the sick, for I had seen its effects on others. Since that time I have been healed of the tobacco and drink habits and of using profane language. These healings took place over three years ago and I know that theyare are permanent, for what God does is forever. I am grateful for the overcoming of many other habits. The grand thing about Christian Science is that when it has freed us from bondage to a habit, the desire to indulge in it goes also. I find that when I read the Sentinel, Journal, and Monitor, and the Lesson-Sermon, I have no time for those things. I have also been healed of chronic stomach trouble, chronic bronchitis, and chronic biliousness. I have had an instantaneous healing of an injured ankle through the truth that I have learned from Science and Health.
For these healings and many others I am grateful to God, and to our Leader, who has pointed the way. I am grateful, too, for the privilege of being a member of the Christian Science church here.—George Plummer, Newark, Ohio.
It has been about five years since my attention was first called to Christian Science, and in that time many discordant conditions have been overcome. I had reached almost the limit in vice and was sorely in need of regeneration. Long before I permitted myself to take an interest in Christian Science, I gave my consent to treatment, to please my wife. After a time I noticed a distaste for liquor, extreme nausea followed my drinking, and I had frequent disputes with the bartenders regarding the brand of liquor they were selling. Then the distaste for smoking took hold of me, and I came to the conclusion that if whiskey and tobacco were to taste as they then did, I wanted no more of either. I next found myself turning from company I was accustomed accustomed to keep, and in a sense I felt truly alone in the world. I was quite ready to go home in the evening after my day's work was finished,—this I had not done for years.
