Seven years ago Christian Science was brought to my home upon the complete healing, in two treatments, of my husband's mother. The decision of five reputable physicians in consultation was that an immediate operation for gallstones must be performed. A few hours before she was to have been taken to the hospital I suggested that we try Christian Science. She knew nothing of this teaching but consented, so a practitioner was called. After the first treatment all pain left, and complete restoration followed the second. The patient had undergone severe suffering for about three weeks, so this healing was very wonderful to me. I had always been well, but thought that if ever I were ill I would rely on Christian Science.
About two years from this time I had a serious nervous breakdown and employed one physician after another, then began to take various kinds of treatment. When at the end of two years I was no better, as a last resort I took up the study of Christian Science. It seemed some time before physical relief came, but I had no thought of giving up and read a great deal. With the help of a kind practitioner I endeavored to know the truth, and am thankful for this period, as I learned that the one thing to be sought is understanding. Since beginning to study Christian Science this saving truth has been our only remedy. Each of my two children has had a number of quick and beautiful healings, and my husband was healed in two treatments of a severe attack of influenza, which seemed to be epidemic and to take a serious form.
At one time a testimony meant to me the telling of something that had been accomplished; now it means an expression of gratitude. For the help I have received from others, and the literature furnished by The Christian Science Publishing Society, I am very grateful, and I wish to express my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of this great movement. I am also thankful that the truth heals not only physical discords but every inharmonious condition.
