When I came to California, in 1906, suffering from chronic bronchitis and in the first stages of lung trouble, I was very antagonistic toward what I thought Christian Science to be, but two years later began to read the Sentinel, and enjoyed it so much I subscribed for it. About a year later I accepted an invitation to a Wednesday evening meeting, and after a few visits realized that I had been entirely healed while reading the Sentinel, though not knowing when the healing took place or how it happened. I then became an ardent student of Christian Science, bought Science and Health and the Quarterly, and began to study the Lesson-Sermons. Later two treatments for my eyes were given me by a practitioner. I had been born near-sighted and had worn glasses nearly all my life, but they were laid away and have not been worn since, and that was six years ago.
Many troubles, physical, financial, and moral, have been overcome through my own understanding of the truth, and I have had the great pleasure of helping others. Among the greatest blessings was the overcoming of deep sorrow, caused by the passing on of my mother very unexpectedly. My gratitude to God is beyond words for having given us one who could explain the Christ-healing in such simple language that all may understand, and receive the "water of life freely." — A. Louise Fisher, Garvanza, Cal.
