Gratitude impels me to send in these lines as a testimony...
Gratitude impels me to send in these lines as a testimony of the many blessings which I have received since becoming acquainted with Christian Science. From earliest childhood I was a delicate child, and even later I seemed to have but little physical strength. All work that I undertook meant great exertion, and at an examination of recruits the physician told me I had asthma. Having heard that in many such cases the physicians could afford no help, people thus afflicted even passing away as a result, I became very much afraid, especially as a rupture dating back to childhood became aggravated.
In 1914 an aunt told me of having been healed completely of a serious tubercular trouble through treatment in Christian Science. She sent me a copy of Der Herold der Christian Science, gave me encouragement and directed me to the nearest practitioner. I asked him to call on me, and he did so soon afterward. He spoke to us all in the most comforting way, asked us to read the Herold as much as we could, and then took up treatment. After a short time—indeed on the following day—I laid aside my pipe and have had no desire to smoke since. Besides, the pain caused by the rupture grew less with every day, and I was able to work more efficiently. The asthma, which was my greatest source of worry, has completely disappeared, the color of my face has changed entirely within a very short time, and the sense of weakness has been replaced by actual strength. I can now see well with my right eye, and this has helped me in my work and makes me enjoy it.
I thank God from the depths of my heart for having been led to find this glorious truth, and think with feelings of sincere love of our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who labored for humanity that it might be enabled to walk in the way which leadeth unto God.
