The Lectures

The remarks of Miss Eva Cole in introducing Clarence W. Chadwick, who lectured on Christian Science in the edifice of First Church of Christ, Scientist, were as follows:—

We live in an age which demands that everything be standardized, and religion is not excepted, for without an absolute basis from which to reason, no correct conclusions can be reached. The invariable standard of truth as taught in Christian Science is at once so simple and practicable as to appeal strongly to those who would be "doers of the word, and not hearers only;" but since the world has for so many centuries discharged its religious obligations by a formal acceptance of the Master's teachings, this demonstrable Science of the Christ has met with opposition and misrepresentation.— Correspondence.
