It is with pleasure, as well as with thankfulness to God...

It is with pleasure, as well as with thankfulness to God for His wonderful goodness and mercy to me, that I write this testimony, in the hope that it may benefit some one in need of the light. I had been a sufferer since childhood with a throat affection, and a few years ago it culminated in such a serious form that there was no hope from a medical standpoint. As a last resort I turned to Christian Science. A practitioner was called, and I was healed of the throat trouble. Under the physician's care, however, I had become a sufferer from mercurial poisoning, having taken large quantities of that drug in accordance with the doctor's prescriptions. The effects were made manifest on different parts of the body, particularly the face, and my condition became very serious. Face and head were swollen and I was almost blind, while the suffering was beyond description.

A Christian Science practitioner was called and in thirtysix hours the face and head were healed. In a few days all traces of the disease had disappeared, leaving no scars, and I was up doing the housework.

When quite a small child I had a severe fall, cutting the kneecap on a rusty can. The wound healed after a great deal of trouble, leaving a scarred skin seemingly grown fast to the whole kneecap. Physicians told my mother that unless the knee was operated on and the bone scraped, in time I would be a hopeless cripple. We never consented to have the operation performed, although the knee always gave me a great deal of trouble, even extreme suffering at times. A few years ago it began to grow worse, and in May, 1914, the scar burst into an offensive running sore. The whole shin-bone became dangerously affected, so that no covering of any kind could be endured.
