Although comparatively young in Christian Science, I feel...
Although comparatively young in Christian Science, I feel it a duty as well as a privilege to announce publicly my experience in part since taking up this study. For about thirty years I had been an active church-member, and so it was with reluctance that I turned to Christian Science for relief when for practically the first time in my life I found myself in extreme physical need. I was advised by reputable physicians that I had Bright's disease in rather an alarming form, and when I failed to improve after having medical treatment for about six months, as a last resort I asked for help from a Christian Science practitioner. After eleven treatments I had gained sufficiently to discontinue treatment, and while the improvement was gradual, it has proved to me conclusively that Christian Science heals absolutely. My life has practically been transformed from one of disease, unrest, and fear, to one of contentment and peaceful trust in a God who is Love and in whose image I have been created.
In November, 1914, I was instantly healed through Christian Science of the habit of smoking, in which I had indulged for twenty-five years. I have never had the slightest desire to smoke since, and am sure I never will. For the last few years my work has been accompanied with a degree of success and harmony never before experienced in my business life. My home surroundings have been materially changed, resulting in increased domestic happiness. I have realized, in some degree at least, that "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health, p. 494). Like Paul, I have been "transformed" by the renewing of my mind, and I am more than grateful for what Christian Science has meant to me and mine.—Silas Miller, Denver, Col.
