Among the Churches

Current Notes

Louisville, Ky. —Arrangements were completed yesterday [Sept. 9] by a committee representing First Church of Christ, Scientist, for the use of De Molay Commandery Hall, 212 West Broadway, until the proposed new church building has been completed. The congregation is now housed in a small structure on Third Street, near Oak, but this building is said to be inadequate. The De Molay Hall, which seats about fifteen hundred persons, will be used for the usual twice a week services, beginning Oct. 1. The Christian Science organization is planning to erect a new edifice at the southeast corner of Third Street and Ormsby Avenue, where it has acquired land.

South Dakota.—A Christian Science reading-room has been built on the state fair grounds for the purpose of distributing Christian Science literature. It was completed and furnished for the state fair which has just closed. The building is 24 by 40 feet and cost a little under one thousand dollars. It was the object of considerable attention during the fair, and many came for literature, while some wanted to buy "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy and the Bible, but they were not for sale. Next year all of Mrs. Eddy's writings will be on hand for those who wish to buy them.—Correspondence.
