When I turned to Christian Science in March, 1907, I...

When I turned to Christian Science in March, 1907, I was not able to walk across the room unaided. I had not slept for two weeks without an opiate being in constant pain, and two physicians had agreed that I could never be a well woman again. They advised an operation, saying that though it could not cure me, it would probably bring temporary relief; but more than one opeation might be necessary. At this point I remembered friends who several years before had told me what Christian Science had done for them; and how thankful I am to them for the seeds which were sown at that time and which have now taken root. Their words enabled me to turn to Truth when I needed its aid both physically and spiritually, and I was healed of all my troubles in three treatments. The first treatment enabled me to sleep all night without an opiate; at the second, I had to be helped into the room where the practitioner was, being bent almost double, but when I came out, in about half an hour, I took my seven-months-old baby in my arms and danced twice around the room. Every ache and pain had vanished, and I was well! The next day I went to the practitioner's home, being obliged to take two car lines and to walk several blocks, the streets being covered with ice. Treatment was given for bowel and liver trouble, and today I am a well woman.

These were my first blessings in Christian Science, but I have had so many since, that time fails to relate them. The physical healing is to me the least of these blessings, for it is only the stepping-stone to a higher understanding of life, and pales before the spiritual life into which it has led me. Each day I am more and more thankful for knowing that God, who is Truth and Love, fills all space and is ever available if we turn to Him. I wish to express my gratitude to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who was spiritual enough to look through and beyond the mists of materiality and discern this great truth and give it to mankind. I pray that I may grow into a fuller understanding of divine Truth, so that I shall be worthy of the name Christian Scientist.
