I would like to tell others how much I have to be grateful...

I would like to tell others how much I have to be grateful for in the help that Christian Science has been to me. I am a nurse, and four years ago I heard for the first time of Science from a friend who gave me a Sentinel to read, and who also told me of some healing she had witnessed. I borrowed "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy from the reading-rooms in the town where I was then residing, and began to study it. I had been reading for about ten days when to my surprise (for I did not know I could be healed through reading only) a stomach affection of fifteen years' standing, and for which I had had variopus medical treatments, was entirely healed. I was able to eat anything I liked and at any time, which to one in my profession meant much. I then asked a practitioner for help in overcoming sleeplessness, which even from infancy had always troubled me. This was overcome in one week; also at the same time I was conscious of the disappearance of an internal growth which had long caused me great distress, and neither has troubled me since. Every winter bronical asthma, pleurisy, and heart trouble had been my usual procedure. I immediately developed a cold at any change in the weather, which in the English climate is pretty frequent; therefore I feel that no one has more reason to be thankful to God than I, for all these discordant conditions were overcome in less than two years. I can now go out in all kinds of weather without any ill effects therefrom. The moral healing has not seemed so quick as the physical, still I know I have in some measure overcome much that is unlike God and His idea, as I go on day by day to realize truly and honestly the fulfillment of our dear Leader's counsel in Science and Health: "Emerge gently from matter into Spirit. Think not to thwart the spiritual ultimate of all things, but come naturally into Spirit through better health and morals and as the result of spiritual growth" (p. 485).

For all the happiness that has come into my life through the right understanding of God and man as given us in our text-book, and for the increased practical knowledge of the Bible, I am truly grateful.
