A recent issue of your paper reports Dr. Baird's sermon, in which he says: "Mrs. Eddy, by associating religion with discovered facts of psychic phenomena, rapidaly attracted thousands of followers." If this is our critic's apprehension of Christian Science, he has failed to grasp its teachings correctly. The teachings of Christian Science are based upon the spiritual facts of existence as contained in the Scriptures and as taught and demonstrated by Christ Jesus; therefore they can in no way be associated with "psychic phenomena."

The term Mind as used in Christian Science means God; it is a synonym for Deity, and is the basis of all true existence; hence man's being is the image and likeness of God, divine Mind. Through Christ Jesus' knowledge of the scientific action of the divine Mind, he proved his divine sonship, or at-one-ment with God—"I and my Father are one." Through the teachings of Christian Science mankind gains a spiritual understanding of the oneness and allness of infinite Mind, from which emanates, all true thought and action. Hence the false beliefs of minds many, of conscious and subconscious thought in matter, of "psychic phenomena" are destroyed.

Mrs. Eddy says, "There is but one real attraction, that of Spirit" (Science and Health, p. 102). It is this spiritual understandinf of the Science of being which brings heaven down to earth and meets humanity's need. "Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." The thousands of followers of Christian Science come from all walks of life,—ministers, lawyers, doctors, laymen; all alike have found that "God is no respecter of persons" and that He answers their prayer and heals their diseases.
