More than twenty-two years ago myself and husband became greatly interested in Christian Science by the healing of his mother and sister. We had become afraid of material medicine, for in trying new remedies we would be made worse. With much appreciated kindness our sister sent us a new copy of Science and Health, and by carefully reading this text-book, ignorance of God was no longer a hindrance to our progress. We could see clearly that the teaching in Science and Health was the truth of which we read in Jesus' saying,—"Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

I took two weeks' treatment of a Christian Science practitioner, and was healed from rheumatism and other ills which had held me in bondage continually. Later I had the privilege of taking class instruction, and while in this class a burden fell from my body. My mentality was emptied of error, while a new experience came gradually into my life and home.

I wish to add this demonstration, as I hope it may be of benefit to some one. I stepped on a board and a large rusty nail penetrated my foot, so that my daughter had to pull hard to get it out. Trying to realize the ever-presence and all-power of God, I walked to the house, but I became sick with pain in my foot and limb. I had to go to bed, my foot swelling very badly, and great fear seemed to be creeping upon me. My husband and son helped me to declare the truth, and in an hour I was better, but not until next day did the pain entirely leave me. On the third day I could put my foot to the floor,—the swelling was all gone. Surely the saying of the Lord shall come to pass, "Every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God." The greatest of all the blessings which this truth brought to me was the light thrown on the Scriptures. Spiritual understanding has made the Bible a new book to me.

I daily thank God for the precious gift of the wonderful book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by our dear Leader. Through all these years, the study of the Bible with the aid of Science and Health has been our only means of support and strength in overcoming weakness, sickness, obstacles that seemed insurmountable at the time, fevers of the worst kind; but all these trials were overcome by the understanding that God is a present help in time of trouble.
