Many years ago I was requested to read Science and Health...
Many years ago I was requested to read Science and Health and pass my opinion on it. When I did so my verdict was that I could see nothing in it, but every time an opportunity occurred I again took up the book and read it. I finally consented to be treated for the tobacco habit, and to my surprise the appetite was entirely destroyed and has never returned. This opened my eyes, and I took up the study of Christian Science.
Truth had plenty to do in my case! I had suffered from asthma from infancy, and heart trouble had developed in later years, so that in the opinion of a reputable physician who examined me my stay on earth would be short. I received no encouragement that any material remedy would do anything more than afford temporary relief. By this time I was in earnest and commenced to study thoroughly "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. I found relief at once. I do not know when the heart trouble left me, but it went, and in five years the asthma and every other physical trouble was absolutely healed. Not one of the ailments has ever returned.
For all this I am truly grateful, and I recall our Leader's words: "Glory be to God, and peace to the struggling hearts!" (Science and Health, p. 45.) The spiritual uplifting that has come to me with its absolute proof, in being able to overcome the propensities to evil of the so-called "natural man," to be baptized in divine Love and feel our dear Father's care, is, however, as far beyond physical healing as the genial sunshine is ahead of moonbeams to promote the growth of plants. My supreme desire now is to hear God's voice and obey.—John H. Park, Billings, Mont.
