I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science...

I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science is to me. In 1897 I was healed through its teachings of what many physicians had called a chronic stomach affection. I was healed in one treatment and have never had a return of it, have been able to eat and enjoy my food, and am grateful for the physical healing. I however feel more grateful for the understanding of the word of God that has been revealed to me through Christian Science. I have had many opportunities to prove the power of Truth. Several years ago a mother and little daughter of three years were stopping in my home. The child, who was playing with a little bottle, fell, breaking the bottle and cutting her lip so that the blood ran very freely. The mother, who was not interested in Christian Science, was so frightened that I asked her to let me have the child. I took her to my room, and then I was shown that God is ever present and a help in time of need. I took up "Miscellaneous Writings" by Mrs. Eddy, and read aloud the poem "Love" (p. 387). Then I asked the little one what had "chased the clouds away." She answered that Love had done this, and she ran and told her mama, then went about her play, well and happy. Some time after, this little one had her finger pinched by a door being closed on her hand. Her first cry was, "Aunty, get the book quick and read." It was indeed a joy to see such trust and confidence, and it was to me a beautiful lesson.

I feel that my experiences in Christian Science have brought to me, as to St. John, "a new heaven and a new earth." I am indeed grateful for this truth.
