Christ Jesus said that John the Baptist was "a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light. But I have greater witness than that of John." "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." Christ is "the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world."

Divine Love sent Christ Jesus into the world that the world through him might be saved; and as we recognize in him the perfect manifestation of God and allow him to take possession of the human consciousness, "the old man with his deeds" disappears and we "put on the new man,"—the man of God's creating. When man awakens to a higher sense of his moral obligation, he will be drawn to this Christ-ideal, allowing nothing but God's likeness to abide in his thought.

Christ stands today at the door knocking for admission, and as we open the door to receive him, we will find only that which expresses good. As darkness vanishes before the light, so the dismal objects of the human senses disappear and give place to the spiritual sense which expresses hope, faith, and love. "If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him."
