In December, 1905, while living in Great Falls, Mon.,...

In December, 1905, while living in Great Falls, Mon., Christian Science was brought to my notice, and I was healed in a very few days of diseases that had been pronounced incurable by physicians in this and another state. They told my husband to make life as pleasant as he could for me, since it would be very short at the best. Besides my husband I had two small children whom it seemed very hard to leave motherless. When a young girl my parents had been buried in one grave, and I dreaded to leave my babies to pass through even a small part of the trials and sorrows I had then endured, as my life had been anything but happy, owing to loneliness and grief caused by the loss of my parents and home.

I was a nervous wreck, and the physicians pronounced my case so serious that nothing more could be done for me. My husband, though not himself a Scientist, had for two years tried to persuade me to try Christian Science, but I did not wish to leave my church or to believe what I then thought Christian Science taught; but there came a time when I realized all had been done that could be by the physicians, and I very reluctantly consented to see a Christian Science practitioner, with the thought that it could do me no harm even though it did not help me. After the fourth treatment, however, I felt free from my aches and pains,—entirely free, and strong and well, after years of suffering! At this time I laid off glasses which I had worn for eight years. Three different specialists had examined my eyes and told me that I never should go a minute without glasses; but it has been over five years since I have had them on, and my eyes have been better in this time than they ever were, for they had been weak from childhood. In November, 1909, a son was born to us. Before his birth there were some discordant physical manifestations, but these were all overcome by the truth. There seemed to be many unfavorable conditions, but at the time of birth much harmony and love was manifested, and my every need was met far beyond anything I had expected.

For all these and countless other blessings, for the spiritual uplifting at the time of my healing, and for the different understanding of God, I am truly grateful to our Father, to the Wayshower, Christ Jesus, and to our dear Leader. I hope to live so that I may be worthy to be called a Christian Scientist.
