I wish to express my heartfelt thankfulness to God for what Christian Science has done for me. For a number of years I suffered with acute attacks of rheumatism, the pain being very intense at times. A friend advised that I consult a Christian Science practitioner. I did so, and after having the rudiments of Christian Science explained to me in a quiet convincing manner, I was treated for a half hour. I cannot explain the effect it had upon me, but I experienced a wonderful feeling of peace, as if a great load had been lifted from me. After the second treatment the practitioner advised me to lay aside the glasses which I had worn constantly for over fifteen years. I did so, and was very much surprised to find that they were not necessary. At her request, I quit smoking while under her care, without any apparent effort, though I had used tobacco for twenty years and had often tried to stop, but seemingly could not do so. After discontinuing the treatment I felt free to smoke, so I lighted a cigar; but two puffs were sufficient to make me feel sick and dizzy, and I threw it away in disgust, being fully convinced that my craving for tobacco had been destroyed.
All symptoms of rheumatism have disappeared, and I am very grateful for the physical benefits received in Christian Science, which are as nothing in comparison to the spiritual uplifting I have experienced through its teaching.
C. J. ANNIS, Denver, Col.
