On the evening of April 11, Bliss Knapp delivered a lecture on Christian Science in the church edifice of First Church of Christ, Scientist. He was introduced by the first reader, Mrs. Nettie P. Sheridan, who spoke as follows:—

Christian Science is the eternal truth taught and demonstrated by Jesus centuries ago. It is the truth made practical, and to be demonstrated by each individual in the business, in the home, and in the every-day life; to be demonstrated according to the rule given in the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. Christian Science is a religion of love, come to this age as was foreseen by the prophets of old and promised by the Master, preaching good tidings, healing the sick, comforting the sorrowing, reforming the sinner; teaching how to love one's neighbor as one's self, how to overcome and rise above the evil and discord of this earthly existence; freeing mankind from bondage to sin, disease, and death and bringing them into the understanding of God and man's relation to Him, into the understanding of the "glorious liberty of the children of God."
