I think it is due to the Christian Scientists to say this:...
Marion (Ohio.) Mirror
I think it is due to the Christian Scientists to say this: that they have compelled the philosophers in the churches, and the theologians in the schools, to give an emphasis to the ever-present Deity. They also attach emphasis to looking on the bright side of things, and ignoring worry. Worry brings on many diseases incident to this life. If there is no soul rest, there is no rest of the body. We need something to stir us up until we cease to be grouchy and wretched and miserable, and if our Christian Science friends can help us in this trouble, God bless them. The state of the mind has a great effect on the state of the body. It is difficult to bring about a healthful state of the body with an unhealthful mind. We get into the habit of complaining. I think that behind this is a desire for sympathy. But, good health is an awful price to pay for sympathy, isn't it?
In summing up the teachings of Christian Science, we find they are communion with God; soul rest; elimination of anger. These teachings have so awakened us that we must acknowledge that the Christian Scientists are our benefactors. So we are not criticizing, and we are not praising. We are only looking out for truth; from whatever source.
